Bridging the gap between trans-racial adoptees (TRAs) and White Adoptive Parents (WAPs)

During the first session Lydia will complete an initial assessment, where she will spend one-on-one time with your trans-racial adoptee and separately spend time getting to know you.

Following sessions will still consist of one-on-one time with TRA and WAP and collectively as a family finding tangible ways to bridge racial and cultural gaps.

Goals

• Cultivating a safe space for adoptees to feel supported and heard, while meeting their racial and emotional needs within the home.

• Encouraging the family unit to be active in their multicultural traditions

• Addressing the existence and realities of racism, while supporting white adoptive parents in their journey of raising their transracial adoptee.
